Baptism

Baptisms

Baptisms are very special- they are symbolic of entry into the family of God as we recognise God as our Heavenly Father and ourselves as His children. When a young child is baptised it is often called a Christening, but it is exactly the same service.

At St Paul’s, we often have people who become Christians as adults and have never been baptised, so we baptise people of all ages.

Sometimes, if people were baptised as babies but only really come to faith later in life, it is also possible for them to renew their baptism promises by full immersion.

One of the highlights at St Paul's is when we baptise people by full immersion in a tank at the front of church.  We usually try to do this a couple of times each year.
