The Alpha Course

Here at St Paul's we have a team of people who run the Alpha Course regularly and we would love to welcome you as a guest.

New course starts with an introductory supper on Thursday 23rd September 2010

What is Alpha?
The Alpha Course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith.
It's relaxed, low-key, friendly and fun.
There is a meal together at the beginning of each session which gives you the opportunity to get to know eachother.
Listen, learn, discuss and discover. And ask anything.
And it's supported by all the main Christian denominations.


Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for everyone, especially:

• Those wanting to investigate Christianity
• New Christians
• Newcomers to the church
• Those who want to brush up on the basics

What does a typical evening Alpha Course at St Paul's look like?

7.15pm  - Each session begins with an informal meal - a chance to get to know others in your small group.

8.00pm - There is a short talk which looks at a different aspect of the Christian faith each week, such as 'Why did Jesus die?' and 'Why and how do I pray?'

8.30pm - Coffee

8.45pm - A time of discussion in small groups, where everyone is welcome to contribute their opinion, ask questions and discuss with the rest of the group. The emphasis is on exploration and discovery in a relaxed and informal environment. People tend to remain in the same small group for the duration of the course, so that they can get to know eachother, continue discussions and deepen friendships.

9.30pm - Finish

What does it cost?
There is no charge for attending the Alpha Course.
